Sai Prema Foundation’s Help In Kind project is a disaster or need response initiative to help the citizens of Fiji in times of need. Fiji is prone to cyclones and hurricanes and so the Foundation aims to reach out to residents, villages and schools who are directly affected by the effects of the natural calamity by mobilising teams and offer emergency assistance to the men, women and children in some of the hardest hit areas. Since 2016, members of the Foundation have tapped into their networks to help put together emergency relief packages. Teams were then dispatched to deliver these much-needed food rations. During these trips, analysis is also done to ascertain whether further help is required. For example, in 2016, after the devastating Cyclone Winston, the Foundation assisted a school community deep in the interior of Rakiraki, in north-eastern Fiji, where the school and its students had lost everything.
